is a thick-skinned red grape originating in the Rhone region of France. It is one of a few teinturier grapes (actually bleeds red juice when squeezed). These grapes come from one of our neighbors, Dutchman Vineyard, in Ripon. It has flavors of blackberries, blueberries, black cherry with spicy, smoky overtones.
